ABSTRACT
Martise, Rinelda. 2021 Error Analysis in Translating Indonesia to
English Recount Text by the Fifth Semester Students of English Education
In Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong (supervised by Kris Uluelang and
Rinda Hardiati)
The purpose of this study are to know what kind of errors that students
make in translating Indonesia to English on the Recount text. In this study
the researcher used descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data. The
researcher takes 12 students of the fifth semester in Universitas
Muhammadiyah Sorong as the sample. In the collecting data, the
researcher used an essay text to the students ability in translating Indonesia
to English Recount text. Based on the data analysis. There are 28 or 50%
omission error made by the students, 159 or 61% addition errors, 72 or
27% misinformation errors, and 2 or 1% misordering errors. The causes of
error that make students produce errors in research is reflect the general
characteristics of rule learning such as faulty generalization, incomplete
application of rules and failure to learn condition under which rules apply.
Students should study hard to understand the different between Indonesia
and English rule when they want to make sentence.
